Our Eight-Step Tile and Grout Cleaning Process

  1. Pre-inspection – Our technician will make note of all challenging areas and set your expectations, as well as come up with a solution for each area.
  2. Area preparation – We will prepare the areas surrounding the tile, making sure not to disturb any carpeted or hardwood floors.
  3. Dry soil removal – Our technicians thoroughly sweep and vacuum the entire area, maximizing the results we obtain. As in any cleaning process, dry soil removal is the most important.
  4. Soil suspension – We use the highest quality products. The cleaning agent sprayed over the entire surface of your tile or stone is the most scientifically advanced cleaner on the market.
  5. Cleaning – Complex and difficult areas are agitated manually with a brush. The entire floor is then cleaned using a state-of-the-art pressure cleaning system.
  6. Rinsing – A rinse solution is pumped through the machine during the cleaning process to help balance the pH of your floor.
  7. Sealing and finishing – The type of sealer and application varies depending on the surface which it is being applied (optional at an additional cost).
  8. Post-inspection – Technicians will initiate a walk through and go over results before leaving.

What Can Polishing and Honing Do for Your Tile?

We provide all the below processes to restore the shine to your tile and stone:

  • Cleaning of stone surfaces, and tile and grout floors
  • Removes soil and buildup of cleaning products used on the stone.
  • Cleaning may remove some discoloration in the stone, and remove regular soiling in grout.
  • More stubborn/ deeper stains may require a poultice or more aggressive measures to remove.
  • Heavily soiled/stained grout (i.e. hard water, rust, etc.) may require restoration cleaning – more aggressive chemistry or manual agitation.
  • * Cleaning will not remove etching, scratches, or restore a shine (polish) unless existing polish is uncompromised by the soiling/residues.
  • Polishing of tile and stone surfaces
  • Is done after or in conjunction with cleaning.
  • Is uses various liquids, powders, and creams in conjunction with various pads and applicators to restore the shine to a stone’s surface and even out its appearance.
  • Polishing may remove minor etching.
  • Polishing will not remove scratches or stains.
  • Honing of tile and stone surfaces
  • By using diamond honing pads and various other abrasive tools any old polish is broken and removed along with a very fine layer of stone.
  • Then through many steps and processes using finer and finer pads/diamonds the stone is honed back to the desired level of “shine”.
  • At this point, the stone is then polished to achieve desired results.
  • Honing will remove some not all scratches. Deeper scratches may require further repairs.
  • Honing may remove some staining but not all.

Benefits of Sealing Your Natural Stone and Grout

Tile and grout sealer provides long-lasting protection for grout lines and for porous stone and tile. Penetrates deep into the surface to repel everyday dirt and grease, as well as food spills and stains. The latest fluoropolymer ingredients effectively seal the surface, making routine cleaning and maintenance easier. The water-based formula allows for fast convenient application.

Sealing your natural stone and grout offers the following features:

  • Seals and protects grout and porous tile and stone
  • Penetrates surface to repel dirt, grease, and stains
  • Protects with advanced fluoropolymer technology
  • Water-based for fast, easy application

Sealer cures well after three to four hours and completely within 24 hours. If the entire floor is treated, keep the area closed to foot traffic for at least eight hours, until the sealer has had a chance to cure.

Clean up food and liquid spills as soon as possible. Re-application is recommended after a period of 12 months or when grout or tile begins to visibly absorb moisture immediately after liquid contact.

The Clean Team is an IICRC (Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification) certified firm. We hold multiple Master and Journeyman Cleaning Technician designations (the highest available in the carpet cleaning industry).
